Zircon Inlays and Onlays
Dr. Aburas Dental Centre in Dubai uses dental Inlays and Onlays procedures as restoration technique mainly for the rear teeth.Generally, an Onlay is used to cover a cusp (bump) of your tooth and an Inlay is used to fill larger holes or areas between the cusps. As they are made from materials such as Porcelain, they may not be at risk of shining due to the Ceramic nature unlike the Composite filling.
Onlays advantages over fillings are that they are stronger, more durable and more stain resistant. On average such restorations will not need replacing for 20 to 30 years. Frequently questions are asked by our clients what is the difference between a Crown and Inlay? The significant difference between the two is that while an Onlay covers the tooth cusp, the Inlay only fills parts of the cusps. Crowns cover the biting surface of the tooth completely, including the tooth structure above the gum line.
Another common client question is Veneer an Onlay?
Veneer is a tooth shaped shell that is cemented to the front part of a tooth, while Onlays are partial Crowns that are used to protect severely damaged teeth to restore their function.
